(from ’50 Boredom Busters’)

Mask-erade!: Make funky masks by decorating paper plates. Using whatever materials you have to hand such as fabric scraps, funky foam, feathers etc. Attach elastic thread through the sides so the mask can be worn.

Funky Jewellery:  Make necklaces using pasta or cereal with holes, or cut up straws. Let the children paint the pasta tubes before threading onto brightly coloured wool, ribbon or plain string.

Doilie Designs: Using doilies with different designs, tape the doilies to larger pieces of paper and then with a crayon or chalk, rub over the doilies to make designs.

Flower Art: Give each child a paper plate and sit them down in the garden with a variety of paints and brushes. Ask them to choose a flower in the garden and then paint it onto their base. When they’ve finished, they can cut around their flower with scissors and attach it to a stick with tape.
